Udta Punjab controversy: CBFC Chairman reacts on Anurag Kashyap's allegations, Amitabh Bachchan supports Udta Punjab
Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming movie Udta Punjab has got in to major controversy against the decision of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) over the removal of the state name from the title and 89 cuts suggestion for smooth release of the film. Co-producer of Udta Punjab Anurag Kashyap has raised the word battle against CBFC Chairman Pehlaj Nihalani over this issue and now Mr. Pehlaj Nihalani has come out with his reaction over the issue.
CBFC Chairman Pehlaj Nihalani has been targeted by Anurag Kashyap as Anurag Kashyap names Nihalani as Dictator. Pehlaj Nihalani reacted on the issue stating that “I haven’t met him (Anurag Kashyap) even once about Udta Punjab. We have never spoken on this matter”. Mr. Nihalani further stated about rendering his help to Anurag Kashyap for the smooth release for Kashyap’s earlier films NH10 and Bombay Velvet.
Mr. Nihalani added that “Mr. Kashyap is like a child being denied a toy. He loves to make noise every time a film directed or produced by him is released. And since he makes a lot of movies, he also makes a lot of noise. I believe he has called me an extremely egotistical man. A lot of people feel the same about him.”
Abhishek Chaubey directed upcoming movie Udta Punjab highlights the drug menace creating havoc in the youth of Punjab. The movie cast includes biggies like Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh.
Though many from the Bollywood fraternity have already shown their support to Anurag Kashya, Superstar Amitabh Bachchan gave his reaction in support of Udta Punjab. Amitabh Bachchan quoted that “Don’t try to kill creativity. I think we all must have freedom to create because we are in this creative field. All we have is our soul to be able to create. When you kill creativity you kill our soul and that will be detrimental to the profession.”
