Udta Punjab movie portion and scenes get leaked online, leaked copy bears stamp ‘For Censor’

Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh starrer upcoming film Udta Punjab is continuously under news and scanner for controversial reasons and not to add on to it, one more controversy has erupted for Udta Punjab. Just about when Udta Punjab’s tussle with Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) came to an end, the movie has got in to another trouble.


Apparently, as the latest news suggests, major portion and scenes of Udta Punjab have leaked online. Since Udta Punjab was already facing troubles and has tasted victory, the online leak of the movie is looked upon as deliberate attempt to get the movie and the producers in trouble.

As known, Udta Punjab showcases the reality of huge drug menace in Punjab by which most of Punjab youth is gripped. The film is jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap and is directed by Abhishek Chaubey.


Udta Punjab faced tough time at Censor Board, chaired by Pahlaj Nihalani. CBFC asked the producers to drop state name from the title and also suggested whooping 89 cuts in the movie. Producers took this fight to Bombay High Court and the Respected court has cleared Udta Punjab with just one cut. Udta Punjab’s this victory has been looked upon as huge relief for Bollywood fraternity.

As ordered by the Bombay High Court, CBFC has granted ‘A’ Certificate to Udta Punjab just few hours back, however, before even certificate was received by the filmmakers, major movie portion is leaked online.


And more shockingly, the print that has leaked online has the stamp stating ‘For Censor’ which suggests that the portion of Udta Punjab leaked is from the same copy that was submitted to CBFC.

Apparently, the Udta Punjab scene of Tommy Singh urinating in public, that was to be cut as per Bombay High Court order, too has gone viral online.

Let’s see how the filmmakers of Udta Punjab react to this sudden development.
